Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Health, Alimkadyr Beishenaliev, has resigned from his position, the official confirmed to AKIpress.

According to Beishenaliev, he made a mistake in his work, prompting him to submit his resignation. He expressed hope that healthcare reforms would continue without him. The minister also noted that he is a surgeon by profession and might return to medical practice.

Speaking to Sputnik Kyrgyzstan, he stated that pressure from MPs influenced his decision:

«On Friday, they really got on my nerves, and I responded a bit inappropriately. Over the weekend, I talked with my family and made a decision. My wife is seriously ill, and I need to take care of her. I asked the President, and he approved my resignation,» Beishenaliev explained.

As of this publication, President Sadyr Japarov had not yet issued an official decree confirming Beishenaliev's dismissal.

📌 Two-time Minister of Health: Beishenaliev first took office in October 2020 and was reappointed in September 2023.
📌 COVID-19 Controversy: He gained notoriety for advocating the use of aconite root tincture, a toxic herbal remedy, to treat COVID-19.
📌 Legal Troubles: In June 2022, he faced seven criminal charges, including corruption and bribery. He was detained, later placed under house arrest, but cleared of charges by August 2022.
📌 MP Clashes: He was repeatedly accused of nepotism, corruption, and embezzlement by parliament members, leading to a legal battle. In June 2024, a court ruled in Beishenaliev’s favor, ordering MP Jusupbek Korgonbai uulu to pay him 10,000 Kyrgyz soms ($114) in damages.
